Thomas Deitrich's Fox River Paper Paintings Exhibit

The large "parent roll" of paper formed on the paper machine is wound onto paper cores and at the same time, cut to the desired width by a revolving knife. Tension, pressure, and speed evens out the sheets as they wind up on the new rolls. The edges of the paper are trimmed and then recycled.
